Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Some people picked me up and took me home(i was a black away). The damage, my face is busted up really good above my eyes and my hand is broken. Just ordered a limar too. Dude. Ouch. Hope you're all right.
You weren't wearing a helmet, were you?

Anyway, do make a speedy recovery, and hope that the bike was ok

I crashed a few days ago and was wearing a helmet -- I can't imagine how I would look if I hadn't been wearing one. As a matter of fact, I seem to be reading about BF'ers crashing a lot the past week or so.

Heal fast, make your bike is safe to ride again (check frame, crank, fork, steerer tube, seatstays, etc.) and get that helmet ASAP so your username doesn't become a reality.

Ow! Helmet? What the heck made the hole in your face?

Good luck with the stiching. Start working on a better story to explain the cool scar you'll have...

Looks like you were wearing glasses of some description. Nasty. One more good reason to continue riding as I have been, really damn carefully! And yeah, 'stitches'.

Starclimber makes a good observation. Either a good sized rock in the road or a pair of sunglasses did the damage. I saw a rather nasty crash late last season on one of the local LBS rides. One of the ride marshals went down when a rider crossed wheels with him. His sunglasses took out the bridge of his nose and the eyebrow too. Luckily they were literally within sight of a hospital.

i wear perscription glasses. I know i left a large chunk of my face on the ground. I literally dont remember anything about the crash. I was just riding along and the next think i know im on the ground in ALOT of pain. Anybody wanna donate some red bartape to a guy who is about to spend 300 dolars on a helmet?

Glasses really suck sometimes. I had to pull mine off while riding this afternoon to get some insect out from behind the lens.
